Up In the Hot Tub, Bubbly   Tuesday 4.23.02 at 2:55AM by Dr.Hooptie
Fo Twenty Fo Twenty was a bloody blowout. We had Sexionals for Ultimate and got finished around 4, then ate and got a wee break. Ludacris (at 7:30ish) was pretty damn tight. Some people got the impression he was just in a hurry to split... which he kinda was I guess, but it was still a sweet show. I was rolling around all day in a frayed cowboy hat and Aviators, and the tiny people at 40 acres couldn't see anything cos of me hehe. Those glasses reflect entirely so I got to look at people and see how long they looked at me and it was pretty weird cos they often looked for quite awhile. I was confursed. Anyway, we hit Sali's party at... ehh I don't remember when but I was completely overwhelmed by the honies. All these drop dead fucking gorgeous latin ladies were everywhere around the pool. Salizar is so the man. For whatever reason we decided to go to Alba & Reid's even though we didn't think it'd be that great but it was really very fun. They had lots to eat. Twot missed all that good stuff cos he was (ostensibly) macking but I think he was just there for the keg-o-Natty. We had planned on going back to Dan's but somebody said it got disintegrated somehow. We got home and ordered free Mongolian food but it took forever and I fell asleep after Mags left so I missed that shit.

I had to take care of the situation at Alba and Reid's, as usual. Apparently everybody was asking where I was for like an hour or two before I got there. I think I've found my true calling in life. If only that would work... I was happy to oblige, given the occasion. 420 is a holiday up there with Thanksgiving & Xmas in most college people's minds. Next weekend should be the same way, what with Eeyore's Birthday and all. My folks are coming into town but Saturday is our day! We've been planning it forever. I feel sooo conflicted still but I've pretty well decided to stay in town instead of going to Regionals in Arkansas. It sucks it worked out this way... I'd reaaally love to play. I am justified in staying for academic reasons nonetheless. I have lotsa shit to do.

I'm most likely gonna live with Mags this summer and I don't like to think about it and summer cos I start to get gitty and apathetic. Bad! Gotta finish out the semester. Must. Have to just keep summer out of mind. Mmm...

Update:
Quizzotes - As usual

Come to town for Eeyore's. Seriously. It will kick so much bunghole. I've been on a grunge binge lately, among other things. I was on a Pearl Jam kick for a few days, then some Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins and of course Alice In Chains (poor Layne).

Alice In Chains - Would?
Pearl Jam - I Got ID, recommended by Jay
Miles Davis - Blue In Green
Mos Def - New World Water
Ludacris - Catch Up
Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek - Good Morning

I hardly play Dark Age but I still play CS, only now it's rednex0r style. I wear my cowboy hat and use only the pump shotty. I be rednex0ring foos all up in my yard n shit. I yell hillbilly things into the mic. I promise I study though. Anyways I must crash but I'll post more bullshit before too long.

The More Ticklish the More You Have   Saturday 4.13.02 2:49PM by Dr.Hooptie
Methinks something drastic has happened. I haven't gotten more than 6 or 7 hours a night of sleep this week (tops), stayed up til 5 or 6 last night and got up at 11ish to give people rides to ultimate practice, and when I got back I didn't crash again. It's Saturday for chrissakes! I'm supposed to be asleep. I was also supposed to play Ultimate today and Thursday but my damn foot's trying to wither and fall off. It's frustrating as hell when the weather's perfect but you can't really enjoy it as you'd like, in the form of Ultimate in my case.

I'm in a beautiful state of day-after-partying consciousness that makes music, sunshine and reading all the more enjoyable and engrossing. This weekend started on Wednesday, as happens more often lately. It's rare I get a day with nothing that urgently needs to be done and Maggie got off work early so we relizzaxed and mixed shrooms, cocaine, dos equis, and marshmallows to create the drink I call "Dysentery Jerry." Kidding, Mom. Thursday Sandra Collins played at the Venue on 6th and I went (with Marce, Mags, Bunny, Meetesh and Katy) in spite of a German paper being due Friday. The Venue fucking sucks so don't ever go there unless there's a DJ spinning that you just can't miss. Last night was just tight cos it seemed like everybody in the dorm was partying. I swear to God there were like 40 people in the pool area alone and everybody was walking around drinking like it was allowed or something.

Much to my chagrin, I've learned that, regardless of how we do at Sectionals, we'll be going to Regionals on the 27th. Eeyore's is on the 27th. Maggie and I have been planning this for a long motherfucking time. You can consider my ass thoroughly and mercilessly chapped. I want to play at Regionals (it's in Little Rock), but I want to be in town for our belated celebration of 420. Just when I've almost been driven to atheism, I stop and remember these are the problems of a spoiled, spoiled kid, and I'd be an asshole to actually complain about them. It still does suck to have to choose between different forms of having a goddamn blast. But I won't complain.

Spiritualized will be playing tomorrow, not sure if I'll get that. Dead Kennedys will be in town on Tuesday minus Jello, so it's questionable whether it'll be worth going. Chemical Bros on the 22nd but who can afford that? Belle & Sebastian is equally expensive ($30) and I don't even know if it'd be worth it. I also see Pimpadelic & Slow Roosevelt are playing the 25th at Steamboat. I saw them last year cos Nikki was in town and I can't say I'd pay for it again... Pimpadelic is both intentionally and ridiculously offensive and annoying. Slow Roosevelt's not bad though. We've discussed going to see Kids In the Hall because that would be fucking hilarious and I can hardly stomach passing it up. Tix are like $30 to $40 though... I can barely afford food already so we'll see about all this "concert" business later.

I might nap before hanging out with Sarah, assuming that happens. Otherwise I'm liable to nap straight thru Rose's birthday party. Free food, denied! I have no idea what to get her.

Sasha - Mercury & Solace
Sandra Collins - Dune/Boomerang
Morcheeba - Friction
Massive Attack - Black Milk
Deltron 3030 - Mastermind

Counter-Strike is sucking me back in.... I'm scared. And tired.

Doesn't Scare Me At All   Tuesday 4.09.02 at 2:20AM by Dr.Hooptie
I'm wide awake, don't feel like playing a game, can't concentrate enough to study anymore but get off me cos I got a lot done already. I should be really tired right now but for whatever reason I'm wired, if tentatively. Kansas was a grand time. My narrative on the subject is below.

Update:
Quotes Page #3 - Because I can
Quotes Page #4 - Jay gets first quote

We rolled out in the motherfucking WINDSTAR at about 3:30 on Friday and got into Lawrence at maybe 2:30am or so. It's worth noting that, despite my love for the Windstar, it still owes me the chunk of flesh that was so selfishly ripped from my foot en route to Kansas. Anyway, we had to get up at like 7:30 in typical Ultimate tourney fashion. Pretty groggy. We played a high school team from Kansas City first and they put up a noble fight, especially Stoney's clone. We played Wash U after that and would've beaten em if they hadn't been swilly and if Price hadn't fucked his ankle. We were owning Kansas B (despite their claims of an imminent comeback) when the rain hit. Then they started actually coming back on us, but it lightninged and, as before, we ran like little girls. As Brown said, "We're from Texas. We don't fuck with lightning." We bathed and hit the sauna and went to IHOP (we love you, Kim!) then made a beer run and started pregaming while playing pool at the co-op in which we resided. We finally decided to go to the party at maybe 10:30 or 11 (not sure, it's pretty hazy from all the pregaming) which was at a badass bar downtown. Only five of us went (Price, Marce, Twot, Mo and myself) and we owned the party handily. We took down Wash U twice in a row in boat races, despite their reinforcements and the participation of our DD. After much shmoozing with all the badass Ultimate peeps, the music in the dance room finally got decent and it was fucking on. Two and a half hours of the night are a blur of sound, honies, and Marce writing down phone numbers. What! A testament to how cool Ultimate parties are is the fact that there were FREE 32 oz. Buds until like 2:30 when they started charging a mere $2. Top that, Sig Ep. Finally they made us leave and after Price's failed attempt to ford the river we headed home. Given the latter description of Saturday night, I think it goes without saying that Sunday morning was a bitch. I mean, I've been hungover and I've been hungover. I didn't play too great Sunday. We lost to Nebraska in our first game and couldn't find anyone to play a pickup game with after that so we hit a badass pizza place and departed for richer lands (Austin). Storms the whole way, huge pain in the ass but Skimmons made Mother Nature his bitch with the aid of the almighty Windstar. I studied for my Roman Civ midterm the whole way back (when I wasn't asleep), studied some when we got back at 2:30, slept a few hours, got up and went to Metro to study more with Jono.

That's why I should be tired right now. But no. I have a good feeling about my Roman Civ test for once. That class is bloody nuts. If you go to UT, never take CC302 or 347.

It's time again for me to flaunt my apparently superior tastes in music... Surely this will make people like me.
The Doves - Rise
DJ Shadow - Mongrel....
DJ Shadow - ....Meets His Maker
Morcheeba - Bullet Proof
BT - Giving Up the Ghost
Pete Tong - Sun Is Shining

So many festivities around the corner! 4/20.... Eeyore's... Sun is shining, weather is sweet. I agree with Jay that Mongrel Meets His Maker is song of the year and maybe that The Private Press is album of the year. He hasn't heard the whole thing so naturally he can't really know... heh. Rose's 21st is Wednesday and the fancy boat party thing is this weekend, which means tight, small party with people I never get to see and free drinks and food. Cheers mate.

THIS gem goes out to Mo, Ed, Sam, Zong, Otsuka, and all my favorite Asians, courtesy of Rocky (who else?). I think that's a good note to leave on. I'm suddenly tired... Hopefully I'll post this before passing out at my desk.

First and foremost in (and incessantly reverberating through) my mind is that Jordan got me a pre-released copy of the new DJ Shadow album... it is supafly. Everything he touches is fantastic. I had to skip Ultimate again cos i was up all night studying and still have a German test tomorrow (today). I need my fix, I haven't played since last Tuesday. Also need the practice cos this weekend is mothafucking Fool's Fest (no, I didn't have to skip it) and it'll be a rockin' good time, even without Tuff there. Peep the much needed quotes shit.

Update:
QUOTES - Mmm...

Bizzake. We've got big plans for this month and absolutely no fucking spare time... it's ridiculous. Tried to make plans to hang out with a friend but realized we couldn't swing it for like 3 weeks. This is how your senior year in high school's supposed to be, not your sophomore fucking year of college. Oh well, Shadow calms my nerves... So many people went home for Easter, very similar to spring break actually which I thought was strange. That alwas sucks cos Austin's empty and pretty boring and traffic sucks mightily if you have to go anywhere. Anyway, I got to hang out with Jeff & Jordy Saturday. I stayed in town an extra day so Maggs wouldn't be lonely and getting up Saturday was a bitch.

If you can be in town on 4/27 let me know. Eeyore's birthday is that Saturday and because the bloody morons who plan it didn't realize that 4/20's a saturday this year and that that would be fucking perfect for Eeyore's much like last year we're having to treat 4/27 like 4/20. You follow? Lots of fun stuff planned. Kites, picnics, hippies, oh my. This summer will own all summers previous, except maybe 1969. Little work, much play, 4 months.

If you haven't yet, go ahead and cancel your Rolling Stone subscription. No, don't fight it. Give up hope, it's not going to get good again ever. The 60's & 70's era RS writers must be laughing their balls off seeing Linkin Park and NSync on the cover. What a fucking joke.

A lots happened since last I did update, quite awhile indeed. Peter's shit got ganked by the RA's, parties were had, UT was screwed out of the sweet sixteen, other things. I have to cut this short though, but the next update shouldn't be too far off.
