If You Ever Get Close to a Human...   Wednesday 6.11.03 @ 10:58PM by Aaron
Downtown has lately been host to more dubious people than normal. The per block average of homeless fiddle players has to be at least four, and this group of Christians has taken up the corner of 6th & Congress for a while - their preacher sounds like R. Lee Ermey. I laugh every time I walk past envisioning the glorious possibilities of R. Lee as a street preacher. "Do you wanna rot in hell, maggots?! The power of christ consumes your faggoty ass!" It's better than coffee.

So I wanted to get to bed at midnight last night and ended up going to a party. On a Tuesday. I've been draggin' ass at work every day cos of this crap. Work's going pretty well though. I dig the lack of assholes and working downtown is cool. Except it's a concrete jungle and is absurdly hot.

Quotes aren't in abundance cos the only time I've spent on my puter has involved either work or counter-strike.

I was supposed to go to Galveston this weekend but things sort of collapsed so I decided to just stay here. Supposedly we're going to the Chilipeppers/Snoop/Mars Volta show on Friday cos my friend works for Satan (clear channel) and can get us in free. Hopefully this will happen, because I'd like to be able to tell my grand kids I saw Anthony Keatis do blow off the belly of a hooker. Regardless of what happens Friday, that will be the story my grandchildren are told.

I just discovered that UT allots 75MB of webspace for students, so my mp3 is hosted all up on that shit now. I'm shooting for 30 hours this week and I've already got 9 in as of this afternoon. Dolla, dolla. I keep wondering what insane degeneracy would have taken hold of me had I taken to spending my summers in Hachie and it makes me grateful I'm not a tweaker.

It's fucking rainy here, middle of the afternoon and out my window it's almost like night. This makes me very angry. And HORNY.

Hopefully reasonably soon I'll have enough cash to buy a mountain bike, in which case I won't be around much at all. Between work, frizbar, and new interests like mountain biking and rock climbing.... fuck sitting at the computer. Heh... yeah right. I'll be playing Counter-Strike in the nursing home.

And So Peaceful Until...   Sunday 6.01.03 @ 11:16PM by Aaron
The monstrous ginormity of Ultimate Nationals weekend (last weekend) is not done justice through description using words or pictures. The jousting you're sure to notice in those pictures was among the greatest thing I've ever seen, and the sheer insanity of the level of play has renewed my interest in the sport ten fold. I'm so motivated that next year I'm going to win Nattys by myself. Rawr.

I'm one of the very few people I know who is currently employed and the irony is palpable. I haven't a job in a good while and most of my friends have had at least one job in the time since my last one. Now they be all broke. Bah. I'm just glad the semester's over. I was getting pretty sick of my classes - even moreso than your average end of the semester nausea inflicted by redundancy and tests. Soon as classes were over I was working hard to forget it all, stayed up til like 6am on three hours of sleep that first day. Whoo.

The only new music out now that I'm aware of that doesn't suck is the new Radiohead. Deftones' new album is alright, Talib's album is... Twot said it best: overproduced. They got carried away. I usually dig it when people take things in new directions but only if it's inspired and not for the sake of trying something new. People that are different for the sake of it have always annoyed me. Conformist non-conformity, fitting in with the outcasts, etc. That's where we get stores like Hot Topic.

I can't get on my boy's ftp for whatever reason so I can't pop another MP3 of the week up there. Fette's Vette will have to suffice a mite longer. I think I lost the port info for his server which is well in keeping with incidents surrounding my computer lately. Yesterday I thought I was about to spontaneously combust. I was peacefully playing Counter-Strike when I spilled a full glass of water all over myself and my lovely natural keyboard (which has since been replaced by the generic $6 non-natural keyboard on which I am currently typing in much disgust and carpal-tunnelesque pain) and while I was popping the keys out to dry them the tray that holds my keyboard fell out and broke the left slide off, splitting the wood. I pulled out some superglue to repair the wood so i could screw the slide back on but the cap popped off the glue, spilling absurdly powerful superglue all over my hands and right foot. I decided to take a breather at that point because detonation seemed imminent. It felt like my own little suburban white-collar descent into hell. If the cycle had continued, my espresso machine would have spewed scalding water everywhere and my work portfolio would have caught fire somehow.

This is the first job I've had since my first summer at the WISD tech center where I don't angrily dread work and the trip thereto. I wanted to fucking die every time I went to Plucker's, and even more so after those long (10-12hr) shifts they often thrust upon me. I don't love this job cos my boss is cool as hell or cos it pays well or cos the hours are great, but because I don't hate it. I never considered the simple absense of bad things enough to make something good until I started this job.

The next gap between updates will be about 1/100th size of the previous one at worst. Don't bail on me yet. Given the staggering number of events that took place in May, I consider myself justified in not having updated for the entire month. I regret nothing.
