Dear Francestinks.com
by Aaron

I thought the Congressman who came up with freedom fries was the kicker, but you definitely stole the spotlight. You must be among the brilliant people I've heard running around making jokes about France surrendering all the time, or thinking they're greedy for having economic interests in Iraq, or suggesting that this war is necessary and has precedent. Every time I give my fellow Americans a little credit and start to wonder if they're not all uninformed, bandwagon-hopping, deluded imbeciles, they start telling me how Bush is a smart guy, and hey, France isn't our friend because they disagree with us. Truly astounding. Nevermind that France already had economic pacts with Iraq before we invaded, nevermind that the money they'd have made is a fraction of what Dick Cheney's company Halliburton will make in Iraq and has already made running pipelines through Afghanistan, and forget about the fact that there is admittedly no connection between Iraq and Al-Qaeda, whether ideological or physical. What's been told recently is an appalling lie. They said for 18 months that Iraq and Al-Qaeda were unassociated until it served their purposes.

If France is pushing for the UN to oversee the rebuilding of Iraq, it's not for their own gain. They've already lost. There is no way for them to profit from the UN overseeing it. If anything they want to a) set a precedent for nation-building, especially since this invasion was begun on the pretense that Iraq was violating UN resolutions (plus the US is doing a real bang-up job in Afghanistan -- I guess that's not common pundit subject matter on FOX) and b) they want to keep our corrupt and shameless administration from sending hundred of millions of dollars into the pockets of corporate A-holes who are ruining this country and the world. I'm not naive enough to assume they have only such noble reasons in mind, but these are undoubtedly among them. Don't tell me the Bush administration is so philanthropic as to want to rid the Iraqi people of their horrible tyrant. If that were their inclination we'd have invaded a dozen other countries before Iraq. Of course, those other countries don't have the second largest oil field in the world... Saddam is no threat to the US and he's only a meager threat to his region. He's a thug with a few cronies and unattainable ends in mind.

The "patriots" around need to realize that France and Germany are not the problem by any stretch of the imagination. Every person in Bush's administration is getting wealthier by the day while they cut funding for public programs, let corporations off the hook for all the horrible things they do, give kickbacks to all their buddies in every deplorable company in America, and send young soldiers off to die so their stocks in Lockheed will go up a few points. You are being lied to. You people must be of a reasonably mature age. I can't imagine it's never occured to you not to believe the government. They've lied about lesser things. Apparently your ego is so very large that you can't fathom that the US could be in the wrong on this one, or anything for that matter. There's a difference between national pride and common sense. Look in the fucking mirror. Be honest with yourself. You know there's neither precedent nor necessity for what's happening. It's just a huge damnable kickback that is turning our allies against us and could throw the whole region into further turmoil. So grow up, wisen up, and focus on the actual problem.
