PLAYlist

The most important aspect of a PLAYlist is to always keep timing in mind.

Always start with something barely audible or without lyrics. The basic premise we're going for is a two phase system.

phase one:
slow instrumental techno or acid/mushroom jazz.
Build to a few R&Bish songs with a more noticable rythm and propencity of bass/drums.
We build to something lyrical (like it matters) but the "riff" is key.
Something triumphant/sweet sounding. (weezer, toadies)
Here is where it gets tricky: Only YOU know you're limits. Timing is up to your discretion.
Drop back down with some acid jazz. I recommend Mark Farina but something swank, smoky and just plain dirty sounding.
We build back here with something euphoric almost. Radiohead's new stuff is outstanding (Pyramid Song) this is easy to drop off from.
Now at this point you could drop the music completely and be a wuss and talk or spoon. If you've done your job right and the music is good you can just lay back and enjoy the sounds of your own credits music. Nothing to triumphant (Chariots of Fire pisses them off) but something you'd expect to hear while walking out of the theater after a good movie. I've included a few examples for everyone to experiment with.

1. Adam F - Circles
2. Foul Play & Nexus - The Chase
3. Massive Attack - Protection
4. Beck - Dark and Lovely (Dust Brothers Remix)
5. Queens of the Stone Age - If Only
6. Weezer - Only in Dreams
7. 311 - Amber
8. Gorillaz - Tomorrow Comes Today
9. Portishead - Mysterons
10. Portishead & Moloko - Fun For Me
11. DJ Shadow - Dark Days
12. Weezer - Crab
13. 311 - Purpose
14. DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World
15. Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing
16. Radiohead - Pyramid Song
17. Massive Attack - Teardrop

Let's analyze by track.
1 through 3
You're making some last second small talk and touchy feely stuff.

4
Go for the kill, no more making out junior high stuff. Go for the clothes.

5 through 7
You've noe made the realization that there is a naked girl next to you, don't blow it just yet.

8 and 9
You're building back again to the actual "doing it" part. Follow the book you're mom bought you before you went to college.

11 through 14
You know what you doing. (note, choose longer/more songs as needed. Same theme)

15 through 17
This is the euphoric afterglow part. Try not to talk and ruin. Try smoking or something.

It's a tough worlk out there, wear a helmet.
